Russell Home Easter Egg Hunt

During the Easter Season, I had the opportunity to take a series of pictures and put together a Power Point video.   

The times of the events at our First Annual Russell Home Event have been altered slightly. On October 6th, the 5k run will be held at 7:30am, the Fun Run will be held at 9:00am, and the Fall Festival will be held from 10:00am-3:00pm. The flyer We previously posted does not have these updates on it, so please take this into consideration. We apologize for the confusion, and we sincerely appreciate your patience with us as we continue to work out the details of this event. Thanks!

Need some volunteer hours? Well you're in luck! We are currently looking for more volunteers to help out with our 5k Run for the Russell Home and the Fall Festival that follows. We could use the help of volunteers any time between 6:30am-10:00am for the 5k run, and any time between 10:00am-4:30pm for the Fall Festival. Dear Community Member:

Over 50 years ago, a special lady in Central Florida took in a child with special needs in order for the mom to work and support her family.  To this day Mrs. Vantrease Russell’s children and grandchildren are carrying on her legacy by never refusing their home to a child, no matter what age. This home for atypical children and adults is in such need of repair, architects have said it would be cheaper to tear down and rebuild on the property the house currently sits on.

In order for the 2012 Rebuild Project to be successful, many organizations and individuals will need to come together to help fundraise or donate to this wonderful institution.

Peter explains in 1 Peter 4:10 “ Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

As Volunteer Services Coordinator at Circle Christian School, I enjoy introducing students to opportunities where they can use their God-given strengths.  Many of our families have fallen in love with The Russell Home family and have a desire to not only serve them, but also to encourage our entire Central Florida community to serve them.

On October 6, 2012, Circle Christian School, along with Calvary Assembly Church, will host the First Annual Russell Home Event, which includes the Run for the Russell Home 5K and Fun Run, followed by a Fall Festival with entertainment and food.  The events will take place at Calvary Assembly at 1199 Clay Street in Winter Park.

Will you prayerfully consider joining us in this mission?  If you are able to make a donation, purchase a “vendor spot” during the event, or want to volunteer your time, I would love to hear from you.  We are still in need of people to help on the entertainment and vendor committees.

Janet Russell Nixon, daughter of Founder Vantrease Russell, speaks from her heart about the legacy she and her family wish to continue at The Russell Home. 

Run For The Russell Home is a 5K and Fun Run that will take place on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 7:30 am at Calvary Assembly Church in Winter Park.

The purpose of the run is to raise funds for the Russell Home, a home for atypical children and adults in Orlando, Florida.  All monies will be donated to their 2012 Rebuild Project.

To sign up for the run, email runfortherussellhome@gmail.com and request a registration form.

The run will be followed by a Fall Festival, which will begin at 11:00 am and end at 4:00 pm.

Come for the run and stay for the fun.
